Pond Update

The Woodlake board is currently working with the City of University Place on the issue of our pond. The city has expressed its determination to work with us to solve the problem, whatever it takes: We WILL raise the level of the water and it WILL flow over and into the large drain culvert, and when that happens the fountain can once again be fully functional.

The new pipes the city installed (a $25,000 investment in our community) corrected major leaks that were preventing the pond from filling. Since then all the cracks in the pond liner (asphalt) have been resealed. Obviously though, while the pond is fuller than a year ago it is well below its normal level. Also, the algae continues to grow.

The next obstacle, what we’re looking at now, is a leak in the concrete vault that connects all three of the new pipes. If this turns out to be the final problem you’ll soon be seeing a full pond. If not we will plan our next move.

Stay tuned!
